We must be loyal to our position as therapists, to each other, and not allow some entity outside of us to control our livelihood. I say take the power away from them before they take it from us. You massagenerd, I thought you were here supporting this industry, not going against it!!

These franchises don’t offer cheap massage because they are so concerned about making it affordable for everyone. They want to monopolize the professionThey don’t care about delivering quality or care about therapist retention, it’s just about selling memberships. MT’s should strive for something greater than mediocrity which in my opinion is all Massage Envy represents.

That new grads needs experience and massage envy its a good start? they could go to a chiro’s office for example, and get paid the same $15/hr and have even more and better experience than at Massage Envy! they are just starting in this industry and starting to work at ME they are just undervaluing the industry they got into! that doesn’t make any sense to me.

These franchises lessen the value of our profession. That’s why I encourage all Massage Therapists don’t be a “wage slave” at Massage Envy.$15 an hour is a normal salary if you work 40 hours a week. With massage therapy that is suicide! So with $15 an hour that would equal to an $9 salary. I could get that anywhere else. No need to spend $10000 for massage school, more money for certification, more money for retaining a license, etc, and that is what most clients don’t understand.

i work for massage envy… if you want 39$ massages forever Ill tell ya how..first of all KNOW that all the “front desk people” work off of commission… and trust me if their sales pitch doesnt tip you off to it my next advice will….tell them that you know they work on commission as far as selling a membership and let them know you would like to b put under the “friends and family” “add on” package …. it is only 39$ a month not 49$.If they wine and say they cant fucking play hard ball

Massage Nerd, I agree with the majority of what you said however “if you don’t use it you lose it”, not true as far as massages carrying over to the next month within the membership.
